Course Description

Car Confidence is a practical, hands-on continuing education course that introduces participants to the fundamentals of vehicle ownership and routine maintenance. This course also emphasizes confidence, decision-making, and know how to ask the right questions - so you can advocate for yourself when working with automotive service providers.

Participants will learn how vehicles operate at a basic level, how to interpret dashboard warning indicators, how to perform simple maintenance checks, how to manage the true costs of vehicle ownership, how to communicate effectively with automotive service providers, and how to respond safely to common roadside emergencies.

Instruction emphasizes plain-language explanations, hands-on demonstrations in an automotive lab setting, and real-life scenarios.  

Participants will leave with the following items:

  • Dashboard warning light chart
  • Maintenance checklist (time and mileage)
  • "What's normal vs not" reference guide

The course is inclusive, accessible, and appropriate for learners of all ages and backgrounds.  No prior automotive knowledge or experience is required.
