Course Description

This course meets the new regulations for Monitoring of Nitrous Oxide for the Dental Assistant in accordance with rule 4715-11-02.1in the Ohio Administrative Code. Register for this section if you are taking the course as MONITORING. Participants will be required to submit Dental Assistant certificate or letter of at least 3,000 hours of experience before you can attend the class. The course is the equivalent of a six-hour blended learning course which includes a two-hour online didactic course plus another two hours of didactic instruction (four-hour didactic total) and two hours of clinical experience.  An email with your login credentials to complete the mandatory 2 hours of online training will be emailed about 10 days before the scheduled in-person date.  You must complete the online training prior to attending the clinical portion of the class.  Course Requirements: Dental Practice Act 4714-11-02 (40):

(a) Dental Assistant license.

(b) The dental assistant must be at least eighteen years of age.

(c) The dental assistant has at least two years and 3,000 hours of experience in the practice of dental assisting.

(d) The dental assistant has completed a CPR basic life-support training course certified by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or the American Safety and Health Institute, and remains current at all times when monitoring N2O-O2 minimal sedation.

Upon completion of registration, please email a copy of your dental assistant license, letter documenting the required number of hours and BLS CPR certification to wcs@owens.edu.
