This course provides hands-on examples that help you dig deeper into your family's past using several subscription-based websites that you will be able to access during the course.*Students will have 6 weeks to complete the course. Each class is available for 6 weeks, which are led by an instructor who releases assignments and is available for questions and guidance. In our online classes, there are no scheduled class times where you are required to attend. These classes offer students the flexibility to complete assignments and quizzes based on their own availability, as long as you complete each task by the deadline provided by the instructor. - [Course XAL 320: Studio Art Welding](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1033948): Transform raw steel into unique outdoor masterpieces in this hands-on, introductory workshop. Designed specifically for beginners, this course gives you the skills to create simple metal sculptures and custom garden art to accent your home or flower beds. Under the expert guidance of professional artist and instructor Jason Fuentes, you will learn the fundamentals of MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding. The course covers essential shop safety, basic metal-shaping techniques, and the proper use of common fabrication tools. All project steel and welding supplies are included in the course fee. What to Bring & Wear For your safety, you must arrive wearing the proper attire to every session: Clothing : Long-sleeve shirt (100% cotton preferred) and durable jeans. Footwear : Sturdy work boots. Gear : Heavy-duty work or welding gloves and ANSI-approved safety glasses. This course is held on-campus in our Welding Design Center located on the Perrysburg campus.

Join us for this introductory 2-hour session on the basics of your Cricut. You will learn to set up and connect your machine, as well as how to write with pens, and how to change tools. Please be sure to bring the following items with you to class: laptop, Cricut machine, Cricut mat, and a marker. - [Course XAL 440: Paranormal History of the Great Lakes](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1034018): The Great Lakes have a long history of lake monsters, ghost ships, Devil's Triangle, and shipwrecks. This 4-week course gives a new look at the history of the Great Lakes with a focus on the paranormal side. Week 1 topics are Geography of the Great Lakes, historical shipwrecks, and ghost ship legends. Week 2 topics are lake monsters and odd creatures of the Great Lakes and Native and Non-Native species reports. Week 3 topics are Lake Michigan Devil's Triangle and UFO activity on the Great Lakes. Week 4 topics are haunted lighthouses and Native American legends of the Great Lakes.

- [Course XAL 469C: Intro to Encaustics w/ Studio Time](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1034050): This all-day workshop will explore techniques and best practices for using wax. Develop your creativity using brushwork, fusing, layering, mark making and mixed media. You will be able to complete several projects. Once you get started, you won't want to stop! Morning session will cover Intro to Encaustics and run from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and the afternoon session will be studio time from 1 - 4 p.m. Pack a lunch or step out during the break. - [Course XAL 480: Ghost Hunting & The Study of Paranormal](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1034076): This course is designed to give you a deeper insight into the world of the paranormal. This includes gathering evidence with the essential investigating equipment. Analyzing audio, video and all of the captured evidence to determine whether the evidence successfully supports the claims of a haunting. We will also cover Paranormal Studies which is the field of study that investigates paranormal phenomena, including experimental approaches, the use psychic mediums, and different levels of energy. We will conduct a case study of an investigation and explore the nature of the paranormal experience and the evidence. Learn from veteran paranormal investigator Harold St. John, founder of Toledo Ohio Ghost Hunters Society.
- [Course XAL 481: Mindful Meditation](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1034078): Meditation can be hard for many to grasp but the biological, psychological and, emotional benefits are undeniable. In this class, you will learn what meditation is, why it is beneficial, how to achieve mindfulness and, learn tangible techniques to start on your journey to being more relaxed and in tune. This class will be presented via synchronous learning through Zoom. Students will need to access Zoom with a computer or download the app on your tablet on phone. - [Course XAL 492: Owens Voices Choir](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1034100): A vocal ensemble for students, faculty, staff and community members with an interest in vocal performance. Rudiments of vocal production and musicianship, audition not necessary, but new members must sing for the director to be placed. The group performs several times during the semester. - [Course XAL 672: Whimsical Flowers - Garden Stakes Ceramics Workshop](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1034282): Transform your landscape with a unique, two-part collaborative workshop at  Owens Community College . This hands-on course merges the delicate art of ceramics with the industrial strength of metalwork, allowing you to create two stunning, permanent blooms for your garden. Session 1: Clay Sculpting Join artist, Lindsay Scypta, in the Owens’ Ceramics Studio to hand-build two plate-sized  Dahlia  flowers (12” and 8”). You’ll learn techniques to layer and sculpt clay petals, capturing the intricate, symmetrical beauty of these late-season favorites. Session 2: Metal Fabrication Take your fired, ceramic blooms to the Welding Studio, where instructor, Brian Schwab, will guide you through a hands-on welding experience. Dental Hygienists must be currently licensed to administer local anesthesia in the State of Ohio and have successfully completed the written exam for local anesthesia by the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment in compliance with revised code 4715.231 and the Ohio Administrative code 4715-9-01. This class includes two hours of online instruction and 3 hours of clinical practice. The Oral Health Access Supervision Program (OHASP) allows dental hygienists with additional required education to practice under relaxed supervision in certain designated underserved locations outside of the dental office without the presence of a dentist. The OHASP allows dentists and dental hygienists to reach out into traditionally underserved locations like nursing homes, schools in dental health resource shortage areas, Head Start programs, WIC clinics, and other locations to serve populations who may have had difficulty obtaining dental care. - [Course XHF 137: Pharmacy Technician Program w/ Externship](https://wcs.owens.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1034676): This 50-hour program will prepare students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’sPTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands-on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, IV flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement. In addition to classroom lecture and labs, this program includes an optional 80-hour clinical externship through a local pharmacy. To be eligible for the 80-hour clinical externship, students must successfully complete the 50-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening (not included in tuition) and meet other requirements. The fee for the Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (CPhT) is $129 through the Pharmacy Technician Certified Board (PTCB) or $99 through National Workforce Career Association (NWCA), which is an additional cost. It is not required to participate in the externship to take the CPhT exam. Additional on-the-job hours are required to register with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Book included in course fee.

Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipuncture completely and safely. The cost of this exam is $99 and is a separate cost, which is not included in the student tuition amount. *Practicum and Clinical Externship Option** The 90-hour Phlebotomy program through Owens Community College includes a practicum and an optional 100-hour clinical externship rotation for selected students.
